# Autism Law Summit: Insurance & Legal Advocacy — What Is the Autism Law Summit?

- Jim attends the [Autism Law Summit](https://autismlawsummit.com/), the independent annual national conference on autism insurance law, every year and brings the lessons back to our families. He has put the material to work himself, using it in his own appeals and independent external reviews (IROs) to protect his son's medically necessary ABA treatment. This is the short version; the session notes go deeper: *[Autism Law Summit, Oct 2022](https://fwmparents.org/sessions/20221014_Autism_Law_Summit/notes.md)*, *[Oct 2023](https://fwmparents.org/sessions/20231012_Autism_Law_Summit/notes.md)*, *[Oct 2024](https://fwmparents.org/sessions/20241017_Autism_Law_Summit/notes.md)*, and *[Oct 2025](https://fwmparents.org/sessions/20251022_Autism_Law_Summit/notes.md)*

- The slides from the 2024 sessions and the 2025 legal update, recreated from photos of the projected decks, are attached to the Oct 2024 and Oct 2025 notes pages as searchable PDFs and PowerPoint files. The official session decks from the [Autism Legal Resource Center's slide library](https://www.autismlegalresourcecenter.com/resources/library/listing?page=1&cat=1321) for 2022, 2023, and 2024 are now attached to each year's notes page too, along with related legal documents (a DOJ letter on school segregation, a DOJ brief on service animals in schools, and the ALRC's written legal analysis of ABA in schools).
